Five things that adults should be able to do.
Grownups have several skills to be developed as society increases its already high pattern of how things should work. It is easy to find tons of information on how to improve our abilities and social skills. However, have we taken a break to think about what really matters to us?
The main point of this article is to share a piece of (What type?) mindset that I carry with me after some time of research and personal development. To do so, I will provide five topics that I consider most relevant.
Communication
Work, negotiation, discussion, presentation, sales… All these actions have something in common: your ability to convince others. In a “dog-eat-dog” world it is common that many of us will need, or already did, to use our communicative abilities to achieve a goal, or maybe to just buy something for a reasonable price. Therefore, I strongly believe that a good communicator has advantages over regular people.
Time management
Some people wonder every day, is 24 hours enough? With an always-late life routine, people have not learnt how to properly manage their time, consequently, it becomes a hard time to pass through a simple daily routine. A simple weekly planning habit can make a huge difference on how we deal with our tasks, making it possible to add things we were leaving aside for a long time.
Sleep
It seems trivial to say that we as humans need sleep quality, but believe me, not all of us give the real importance that it deserves. A well-slept night improves our humor, addresses the lack of early memory, and can even prevent serious mental illnesses.
Self-love
It might sound selfish or narcissist, but self-compassion is the master key to improving your mental health. It is not about looking into the mirror and telling yourself how beautiful you are. Self-love is about having your back when you are being too hard on judging your attitudes, it is about being your best friend on the toughest situations.
Mindfulness
The final and most important topic, the ability of practicing mindfulness. It is becoming more popular nowadays the art of meditation and its applications in our life basis. Mindfulness can improve our concentration and focus on simple daily activities that we struggle with in this high-dopaminergic world. Thus, if you can deal with distraction nowadays, you are one or two steps ahead.
